Emma Watson’s Playful Response to Producers’ Blunder in Return To Hogwarts Special: ‘I Was NOT this cute!’

Emma Watson has responded after bungling Harry Potter reunion producers confused a childhood snap of Emma Roberts with the Hermione Grainger star.
The British actress, 31, was in a case of mistaken identity as a throwback snap of Roberts was used in reference to Watson during Saturday’s Return To Hogwarts special, with eagle-eyed fans instantly spotting the inaccuracy.
Addressing the gaffe with Instagram followers on Wednesday, Watson saw the funny side by captioning the childhood snap of Roberts wearing Minnie Mouse ears: ‘I was NOT this cute, @emmaroberts.’

She added the hashtag: ‘Emma Sisters Forever.’
Both Emmas hit the headlines last week when viewers of the special noticed the wrong picture had been used.
As the photo was shown, the Harry Potter star said of her memories of the J.K. Rowling book series: ‘I think I probably would’ve been about eight years old. I think that’s probably when the first one came out. It became, like, our family thing.

‘My dad used to do all the voices, and my brother and I just became obsessed. We would just beg him to keep going.’
But the image shown was in fact a throwback snap of Emma Roberts, which she shared on Instagram in 2012, writing at the time: ‘Minnie Mouse ears.’
Confirming the mistake, producer put the issue down to an ‘editing error’ and hailed viewers for pointing out the blunder, remarking ‘Well spotted Harry Potter fans!’

In a statement shared to Deadline on Monday, they said: ‘Well spotted Harry Potter fans! You brought an editing mistake of a mislabeled photograph to our attention.’
They went on to say that they’ve updated the episode with the correction, adding: ‘New version is up now.’
Meanwhile, this isn’t the only mistake that occurred, as the names of twin actors Oliver and James Phelps – who play George and Fred Weasley – were shown in the wrong order.
Taking to Instagram with a screenshot of the misidentification, actor Oliver (George), wrote: ‘I guess after all those pranks over the years somebody decided to get their revenge. It was fantastic to be part of the HP reunion. Hope you all enjoyed it.’

Draco Malfoy actor Tom Felton jokingly took responsibility for the blunder, as he wrote in the comments: ‘It was my doing’, alongside a snake and a lion emoji.
The mix-up between the two Emmas was spotted by fans straight away, with one taking to Twitter to write: ‘GUYS HELP ME THATS LITERALLY EMMA ROBERTS NOT EMMA WATSON.’
The sweet snap showed actress Roberts, now 30, posing for a picture wearing cute Minnie Mouse ears while eating breakfast.
Roberts had shared the throwback image to her Instagram feed back in 2012.
One shocked fan wrote in reaction to the gaffe: ‘Well, had to be on accident. I can kinda see the resemblance lmao!’

Another said: ‘Can’t decide if this was on purpose or if it’s a hilariously bad error by Warner Bros. in the production of their Harry Potter retrospective: They used a photo of actress Emma Roberts as a child instead of Emma Watson.’
Two decades after first hitting screens, the cast and crew of Harry Potter reunited for the 20th anniversary Return To Hogwarts special to deep dive into life behind the wizarding franchise.
In the special, which debuted on HBO Max, Sky and NOW TV on Saturday, fans are treated to a mosey down memory lane helmed by lead actors Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint, as well as a slew of their dazzling co-stars and the brains behind the eight movies.

While the stars regaled tales of life on and off screen during their time in one of the biggest movie franchises of all time, notably absent was creator JK Rowling, 56, who only appeared via archive footage in the wake of an ongoing row over her views on transgender issues, which erupted via Twitter earlier this year.
Alongside the core trio, who played Harry Potter, Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley respectively, the line up includes Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy), Alfred Enoch (Dean Thomas), Evanna Lynch (Luna Lovegood), Bonnie Wright (Ginny Weasley), Helena Bonham Carter (Bellatrix Lestrange) and Jason Isaacs (Lucius Malfoy).
The actors and cast also remembered their late co-stars during an in memoriam section of the reunion.

Daniel, Emma and Rupert led the tributes to the many stars they have lost over the past two decades, since the franchise launched with Harry Potter And The Philosopher’s Stone – including Richard Harris, Alan Rickman and most recently Helen McCrory.
Speaking about appearing on the reunion without their late stars, Emma said: ‘It’s obviously amazing to be back, but so many people we thought would be here for much longer like Helen and Alan and Richard’, while Rupert sadly echoed: ‘They’re like family, just gone too soon’.
Speaking about working with such icons, Daniel said: ‘I feel really lucky to have some little bit of touch with the people who have passed… I’ll be very old one day and say I knew that absolute legend.’

Elsewhere, JK Rowling received just 10 mentions in the reunion show.
The author’s appearance on the 20 year anniversary show was widely speculated and discussed in the wake of scandal over her statements on transgender issues which were branded ‘transphobic’ and resulted in her being ‘cancelled’.
While it was known ahead of time that she would only appear in archive footage and in discussion with stars and cast, the show’s release revealed she received just 10 mentions in the one hour and 42 minute runtime of the HBO Max special.
The minimal appearance of the author has come as a shock to fans, who highlighted the franchise would not exist without her seven books.
