“Shakira’s Dominance: Latin Pop Airplay Chart Sees History Made in the Top 3 Spots”

In the list’s almost 30-year history, she has accomplished a triple that has never been achieved before.

Shakira has achieved a remarkable feat by claiming the top three spots on Billboard’s Latin Pop Airplay chart simultaneously. This achievement is unprecedented in the music industry, and Shakira has become the first artist to accomplish it. As of July 29, her song “TQG,” featuring Karol G, has held the number one spot for ten weeks straight. Her own track “Acróstico” has made a comeback, climbing up the charts from number three to number two. Additionally, her latest single “Copa Vacía,” featuring Manuel Turizo, has reached a new high, rising from number four to number three on the charts.

The Latin Pop Airplay chart, established in 1994, calculates the weekly audience impressions from a group of over 150 Latin radio stations in the United States. Mediabase monitors these stations and provides Luminate data to Billboard charts. The collaboration “TQG” experienced a 7% decrease in audience impressions to 8.6 million during the week that ended on July 20. However, with ten weeks at number one, it is the second-longest running song of 2023. Shakira’s “Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53,” featuring Bizarrap, remains in the top ten after a twelve-week reign starting in February and holds the top spot.

The songs “Acróstico” and “Copa Vacía” are steadily rising up the charts, with increasing radio airplay. “Acróstico” has claimed the second spot with a 2% increase in audience impressions, reaching 5.7 million. Meanwhile, “Copa” has surged with a remarkable 33% jump, reaching 5.4 million and earning the title of Greatest Gainer for the week. It’s worth noting that Shakira and 16 other artists have previously held the top two spots on Latin Pop Airplay simultaneously, including the likes of Bad Bunny, Daddy Yankee, Enrique Iglesias, and Maluma, among others.
